ALBANY -- Point of Reference recorded her second straight win at Golden Gate Fields when she ran away to a three-length victory in Wednesday's $19,300 feature.

A Washington-bred daughter of Benchmark, Point of Reference captured the six-furlong dash for 2-year-old fillies in 1:10.95. Merry Marino took second by a length over Starship Countess.

Dixie Hawks, the 6-to-5 favorite ridden by Russell Baze, stumbled at the start and never threatened while checking in last in the field of six.

Point of Reference was coming off a game maiden victory in which she surged late to score by a nose. The third choice in the betting Wednesday, Point of Reference paid $10.20.

Point of Reference, owned by Jack and Ivor Jones, is trained by Frank Lucarelli and was ridden to victory by Leslie Mawing.

Trainer Chuck Jenda and jockey Saul Arias teamed up for a pair of wins Wednesday. The duo took the fifth race with Polish Charmer ($5.40) and the eighth with Alight In Darkness ($6.20).

Racing continues at Golden Gate Fields Thursday. Post time is 12:45 p.m.
