Mercedes Stable's Renegade Ruby, the 3-2 favorite under jockey Tyler Baze, gamely withstood the late challenge of strongly-supported Brendolyn to win Thursday's feature, a one-mile event over the infield grass course.

Renegade Ruby took charge in the stretch and appeared en route to a clear victory until Brendolyn rallied late to get within a head of the winner at the wire. Silver Moonshine was third, 2 1/2 lengths back of the runner-up and a nose in front of Rosangela in the field of seven older fillies and mares.

Withdrawn from the original field was the morning line choice, Eissoai.

Renegade Ruby, a four-year-old daughter of El Corredor trained by Julio Canani, stepped the distance in 1:33.71 and returned $5, $2.60 and $2.20 in recording her third success in eight starts.

Brendolyn, who went postward at 2-1 with Joel Rosario in the saddle, paid $2.80 and $2.60, while Silver Moonshine returned $3.40 to show.

Thursday's attendance totaled 10,042.
