Homeister’s first win came aboard Expect Validity, a six-year-old Valid Expectations gelding bred in Florida by Arthur Appleton. Valid Expectations is owned by Tampa Bay Downs’s leading owner Richard Averill and is trained by Kirk Ziadie.

This Saturday is Festival Preview Day Presented by Lambholm South, featuring the Grade III $225,000 Sam F. Davis Stakes, the Grade III $125,000 Endeavour Stakes and the $75,000 Suncoast Stakes. New on the Festival Preview Day Presented by Lambholm South card is Taste of the Bay, in which local restaurants feature some of their most popular menu items during the event adjacent and just north of the Grandstand. Each featured Bay area restaurant will have a variety of items available at reasonable prices from 11 AM until 4 PM. Additionally, Tampa Bay Downs and Lambholm South are teaming up to offer a T-shirt giveaway for the first 5,000 paid admissions while supplies last.
Racing resumes Thursday, February 12 with a ten race card; there is a Pick 6 carryover of $16,645.99. The Silks Poker Room is open daily from 12:30 PM through 12:30 AM, and The Downs Golf Practice Facility is open on Mondays from 10:00 AM through 10:00 PM and on Tuesdays through Sundays from 8:30 AM through 10:00 PM.
