LOUISVILLE, KY (Friday, May 11, 2012) – Double R Stable’s Sam’s Bliss swept past pace-setting Street Storm entering the far turn and drew off to win the $57,528 Bio Purse for fillies and mares by 4 ¾ lengths over Brushed by a Star.

Trained by Bret Calhoun and ridden by Miguel Mena, Sam’s Bliss ran the 6 ½ furlongs on a fast main track in 1:17.03. The victory was worth $34,800 and increased the earnings of the 4-year-old Kentucky-bred daughter of War Front to $131,530 with a record of 11-3-2-2.

Sam’s Bliss returned $12.20, $6.80 and $5.20. Brushed by a Star rallied for second under Corey Lanerie to return $10.20 and $5.80 with Garnet Crystals finishing a half-length back in third and paying $7 to show under Gabriel Saez.
