The attendance for the Hispanic Heritage Day program was the second-largest gathering at Golden Gate Fields in 18 years. A Sunday crowd of 11,462 attended the track on April 5, 2009.
Smarty Corn was taking a class rise Sunday and returned $13.40 after being dismissed at 5-1 in the wagering. Owned in partnership by Daxton Corn and Mike Moreno, Smarty Corn earned $19,500.
Smarty Corn, a Kentucky-bred daughter of Smarty Jones, has four victories in nine career starts.
Racing at Golden Gate Fields will resume Thursday when the track kicks off the final week of action at the 2011-2012 winter/spring meeting. Post time is 1:15 p.m.
