ELMONT, N.Y. – Multiple Eclipse Award winner Gio Ponti and dual Grade 1 winner It’s Tricky had their final works over their home track Wednesday morning in preparation for upcoming engagements in the Breeders’ Cup at Churchill Downs on November 4 and 5.
Gio Ponti, with exercise rider Jerry Fogarty up, worked five furlongs in company over Belmont Park’s inner turf in 1:02.11, according to NYRA clockers. The 6-year-old son of Tale of the Cat broke off about 1 ½ lengths behind stablemate Chardsey, and finished a length in front.
