LEADING MEN AT GGF TEAM UP FOR VICTORY ON CLOSDAY DAY
ALBANY -- Jockey Russell Baze and trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, the leading men at Golden Gate Fields, teamed up for a victory on closing day of the track’s 2011-2012 winter/spring season. The Sunday finale attracted a crowd of 8,189.
Baze and Hollendorfer captured the third race with Light Up the Sky, who rallied from off the pace to win the 1 1/16-mile turf race for fillies and mares by a half-length over 3-2 favorite Ruby Pumps. Light Up the Sky paid $10.20 – a handsome price for a horse with Hall of Fame connections.
