SANTA ANITA STABLE NOTES (Thursday October 20th, 2011)
SISTER MOON STAYS IN HER OWN BACK YARD FOR ANOAKIA
Patience is a virtue, the old credo goes, and John Sadler is adhering to it with the precocious 2-year-old filly Sister Moon, who will go favored in her second start, Saturday’s $65,000 Anoakia Stakes at six furlongs. After she won her maiden race by nearly 10 lengths at Del Mar going 5 ½ furlongs, there was talk of trying a route in her next race, but thoughts of that were eventually dismissed.
“She just wasn’t ready to stretch out, so we wanted to run her short again and we got a race here in our own backyard,” Sadler said. “That’s the plan.”
