Suggestive Boy Wins Wickerr Stakes
Argentine-bred Suggestive Boy, the 4-5 favorite after a sparkling runner-up finish to Jeranimo in his American debut in the Shoemaker Mile at Betfair Hollywood Park June 30, rallied courageously between horses in midstretch and went on to win the featured $88,700 Wickerr Stakes Wednesday at Del Mar.
With Joe Talamo in the saddle, Suggestive Boy outfinished the 2011 Wickerr winner, Calimonco, by three-quarters of a length, with Key Decision another three-quarters of a length back in third. Midnight Interlude was fourth in the field of seven older horses. Liberian Freighter and Rauschenberg were scratched.
