2008 Preakness Stakes Dosage Profiles
Dosage Index, according to its modern practitioner, Dr. Steven Roman, measures the aptitude of a horse's sire to transmit prepotent characteristics to its offspring in relation to its progeny's speed and ability to carry speed over varying distances.
The index is broken down into five aptitudinal groups: Brilliant, Intermediate, Classic, Solid and Professional. The ideal pedigree is a balance of speed, the Brilliant and Intermediate wings, to the stamina component, the Solid and Professional categories. The center value, or Classic group, reflects optimum balance in ther pedigree.
