Statement by Robert Elliston, Turfway Park, regarding Instant Racing
FLORENCE, Ky. (July 20, 2010) – Robert N. Elliston, president and CEO of Turfway Park, has released the following statement regarding the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission’s decision concerning pari-mutuel wagering on historic races, or “Instant Racing”:
“It’s no secret that Turfway Park is under stress because we’re unable to compete directly with our next-door neighbors who use gaming to fortify their racing and breeders’ programs. Our recent decision to cut the historic Kentucky Cup series from our fall schedule is only the latest blow and stands in stark contrast to the consistently positive news from our competitors.

Orchestrator Strums Out Tough Win in Bourbonette Oaks
FLORENCE, KY . . . March 27, 2010 . . . Koolmen Racing Stable LLC’s Orchestrator tracked the early pace and still had plenty left to hold off Age of Humor by a neck in the $125,000 Grade 3 Bourbonette Oaks at Turfway Park Saturday. Winning time for the mile was 1:38.29 over a fast all-weather track.
Breaking from post position seven with jockey Alex Solis aboard, Orchestrator settled into second as the heavy favorite Helen Belen led the field of three-year-old fillies through fractions of :24.42 and :47.68 for the first half mile. Orchestrator took the lead as Helen Belen faded around the turn for home, but her advantage was quickly challenged by Age of Humor and the two raced side by side through the stretch. Return to sprint puts Cool Bullet in Hansel Stakes winner’s circle
FLORENCE, KY . . . March 27, 2010 . . . The winning time of 1:08.97 was just off the track record of 1:08.03 set by Fatal Bullet in the 2008 Kentucky Cup Sprint. Both speeding ‘Bullets’ were sired by Red Bullet.

FLORENCE, KY . . . March 24, 2010 . . . After two straight route wins, one on the turf at Hollywood Park and the other on the all-weather surface at Santa Anita, Kettle River surprised Harty by finishing eighth in the Sham Stakes (G3) in his last start.
