State legislator slams federal racing hearing
"State Sen. Damon Thayer, R-Georgetown, attacked an upcoming congressional hearing on drugs and Thoroughbred racing as "objectionable," saying the federal government's interference is unnecessary. "Clearly the regulation of horse racing is the sole purview of the states, and I find this action by the House of Representatives objectionable," Thayer said at a meeting of the Kentucky Equine Drug Research Council on Monday morning."
