On the 10th Sunday of the 2019 season, coaches, general managers and fans were reminded that the NFL is a quarterback-driven league. That truth has taken on different forms this season, which has in many ways been the Year of the Backup QB. Half of the league’s teams have had to play a second- or third-string passer. Of 21 backups who have started, just 10 have won a game. Furthermore, Jared Goff isn’t the same QB he was last season. He didn’t generate an offensive touchdown against the Steelers, was intercepted twice and never connected with top wide receiver Cooper Kupp. The Rams, at 5-4, are in danger of missing the playoffs, and Goff’s regression is a big reason. |

From our well-oiled machine: MAC home teams just 10-24-1 ATS on Tuesdays against foes coming off a SUATS loss during the regular season. That’s not good news for Akron tonight, especially with the Zips 0-9 SUATS this season and 0-5-1 ATS as a host against Eastern Michigan. Just sayin’. |
