A JOLIE MONROVIA AT SA

After faltering late going a mile last out in the G2 Buena Vista, Jolie Olympia (8-5) returns to her winning Las Cinegas U.S. debut, which she won under a supremely confident Mike Smith who hardly asked her for her best. You hear it all the time but this one did look like a paid public workout.

Nicely drawn outside at this trip, with a willing speed target in Surrender Now, don’t expect Mike to move a muscle uncle he sees where his only apparent rival, Oleksandra (3-1) and Joel Rosario are positioned. She has explosive kick, is 2-for-2 at the trip and 2-for-3 on the SA lawn.

‘Jolie’ is the most probable winner and we’ll make an exacta box with Neil Drysdale’s filly. Further, we’ll make a TRI part wheel using Cal-bred Just Grazed Me 2nd and 3rd. We are highly likely to pass the straight pool but would consider a small play on Oleksandra but at least 5-2, please.

(We’ll be back with a thumbnail analysis of both Grade 1s after catching up on some video, far in advance of the ‘She’ Mile, scheduled for 7:38 pm EST.)
