TOP HORSES TO WATCH FOR AT THE BELMONT STAKES 2023

By HRI Foreign Staff — The world of horse racing is abuzz with anticipation as the prestigious Belmont Stakes draws near. Every year, this iconic event captivates audiences with its rich history and breathtaking display of equine athleticism.

As we approach the 155th edition of the Belmont Stakes, scheduled for June 10, 2023, racing enthusiasts eagerly await the revelation of the talented horses that’ll grace the Belmont Stakes field. Will the Derby or Preakness winner be there? Or will we see fresh new faces?

In this article, we’ll explore the possible contenders to watch out for at the upcoming Belmont Stakes. These magnificent athletes promise an unforgettable spectacle for fans and bettors alike.

National Treasure

National Treasure’s triumph at the Preakness Stakes left spectators and racing enthusiasts in awe. The race showcased the horse’s exceptional talent, determination, and raw speed as it surged to victory. National Treasure demonstrated its prowess when the gates opened, swiftly accelerating and positioning itself among the leading contenders.

As National Treasure sets its sights on the Belmont Stakes, the question arises: Can it conquer the grueling 1.5-mile track at Belmont Park and etch its name into racing history?

While the young colt’s speed and tenacity make it a strong contender, the Belmont Stakes poses a unique challenge. This demanding race requires not only speed but also exceptional endurance and stamina.

As spectators and racing enthusiasts, we can only wait and see how National Treasure fares in the Belmont Stakes. The race will undoubtedly be an exciting and closely watched event as the young colt strives to cement its legacy in the horse racing world, attracting significant attention from belmont stakes online betting enthusiasts.

Forte

Forte is another notable probable contender for the Belmont Stakes 2023. The three-year-old colt has caught the attention of racing enthusiasts despite being absent from the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes.

The decision to skip these prestigious races was primarily due to a bruised right front foot, which required ample time for recovery and rehabilitation. Forte’s connections, including the trainer and owner, prioritized the horse’s well-being and long-term prospects, ensuring it would enter the Belmont Stakes in optimal condition.

Before the setback caused by the bruised right front foot, Forte showcased considerable talent and potential on the racing circuit. The colt’s performances in previous races caught the attention of experts and fans alike.

Ultimately, Forte’s journey to the Belmont Stakes presents an intriguing storyline, as the horse aims to overcome the setback. Racing enthusiasts eagerly anticipate witnessing Forte’s return to the track and its quest to showcase its true potential on the grand stage of the Belmont Stakes.

Angel of Empire

Another prominent competitor in the upcoming Belmont Stakes is Angel of Empire. The young colt finished third in the 2023 Kentucky Derby, showcasing remarkable speed, agility, and tenacity during the race.

Following its commendable performance in the Derby, Angel of Empire’s connections strategically decided to skip the Preakness Stakes. This choice was likely driven by several factors, such as providing the horse with ample rest and recovery time, fine-tuning its training regimen, and ensuring optimal readiness for the Belmont Stakes.

With ample rest, Angel of Empire is undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with in the upcoming Belmont Stakes.

Tapit Trice

Tapit Trice participated in the prestigious Kentucky Derby, securing a respectable seventh-place finish. Despite facing fierce competition and navigating a crowded field, Trapit Trice showcased commendable skill and determination throughout the race.

However, like Angel of Empire, Tapit Trice’s connections decided to bypass the Preakness Stakes. It gives the colt adequate recovery time, tailoring its racing strategy specifically for the longer distance of the Belmont Stakes.

While Tapit Trice’s strengths are evident, areas for improvement could influence its performance at the Belmont Stakes. Bettors need to consider these factors and any other relevant information available to make an informed decision about Tapit Trice’s prospects at the Belmont Stakes.

Arabian Lion

Despite being absent from the Kentucky Derby and Preakness Stakes, Arabian Lion caught the attention of racing enthusiasts. The decision to skip these significant races was likely made by the young colt’s connections, carefully selecting the races in which it competes.

By bypassing the Derby and Preakness Stakes, Arabian Lion may enter the Belmont Stakes with a fresh perspective and enhanced preparation. The colt’s absence from those races allowed its connections to tailor its training regimen, focus on specific areas for improvement, and ensure that it enters the Belmont Stakes in optimal physical and mental condition.

The decision to skip earlier races may give Arabian Lion a competitive edge, as it will face less accumulated fatigue. It may have been able to undergo targeted training tailored to the unique challenges of the Belmont Stakes.

Final Thoughts

The Belmont Stakes 2023 is set to be an exciting and highly anticipated event in the horse racing world. As we look forward to the race, several notable contenders stand out, each with their unique story and potential for success.

  1. Picking the Belmont’s usual suspects , favorite contenders and ” fresh” horses usually closers. Angel of Empire needs an alert start, even in this route , and I’m planning to look at the ” Red hot ” horse that closed too late. By the way , since it’s the 50 th anniversary of maybe horse racing s most venerable, respected horse and its connections it would be fitting to mention how Great he was, his big heart, stamina and devastation of his competitors like no one else ,before or since, in maybe horse racing greatest era, 1970-90,when there were several kinds of rivalries ,with Affirmed -Alydar on top, and some Really good horses that were adulated for their presence, winning ways in exciting races. You can make your own list of indelible names, trainers, experiences and Not Just Because We Were younger… Even entering the smoky, smelly, crowded OTB parlors were crowded( imagine that !) felt like entering a ring, corrida or even a circus with many digesting the DRF, or me , Sports Eye, where I could horses in flat and standard races, from early afternoon to the evening.. but just on Saturdays, as I’d get yelled at for coming home in smelly clothes.. even when I’d bring a cake or ice cream, just to calm the domestic reactions.. Secretariat, Always, with respect and young, exciting horse racing and family memories. Not many better… Loved my 70s,from sports to music, family and business life. Thanks !
