ARROGATE’S WINNING BABY SISTER IS A BIG-TIME PROSPECT

The well named Immediate Impact did something that her famous, older Horse of the Year big brother couldn’t do; win on debut.

From the dam that produced Breeders’ Cup Classic, Pegasus World Cup and Dubai World Cup-winning champion Arrogate, Immediate Impact was most impressive in the Del Mar Sunday opener.

Tactically speedy throughout, the long-striding daughter of white hot sire Into Mischief surged to the front without prompting from partner Drayden Van Dyke ‘s and drew off to defeat five rivals by a 6-3/4 widening lengths.

Like Arrogate, she is trained by Bob Baffert. She was timed 5-1/2 furlongs in 1:04.72. The Del Mar surface has not been yielding very fast times thus far this meeting. No secret, she paid $2.60 to win.

Immediate Impact’s dam is Bubbler, herself a daughter of Distorted Humor. Bubbler is related on her female side to Meadow Star, champion juvenile filly of 1990.

Baffert indicated after the race he believed that her best game in the future will be running long. If Sunday was any indication, and Baffert is correct, her Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies rivals already might be in trouble.
