TAMPA BAY TODAY-DEC 23

With clear skies in the forecast, we remain on the turf and for this TAMPA BAY TODAY video you really don’t need to read anything beyond the chart footnotes to see what happened to Top Bomb (5-1) on DEC 9, RACE 9 here.

Saddled with an outside post, he left for position and was forced into stalking mode. When the pace moderated, rivals made it a four hours battle for position across the track forcing Trejos to steady him twice on the backside, and once more for good measure at mid-turn.

Still, the maiden claimer rallied nicely into the lane, continued to go well while be guided to the inside and battled well until, understandably, tiring late.

Top Bomb is coming back on relatively short rest but Munoz is playing the condition book hand that’s dealt.

Moving inside to a mid-gate draw should enable new Jose Batista to get desired position into the first turn and with a cleaner trip he will make amends if able to duplicate his latest run.

We’re taking Top Bomb straight at 5-1 or greater.

Going for gusto, key-boxing Dime Supers with dropdown Gray Gliding (3-1) switching to Samy Camacho; first-timer Stayin Or Strayin (9-2) with Gallardo; new gelding Ramses (12-1) going first time maiden-claimers; Delaware Destroyer (4-1), cutting the claiming price in half, and [AE] Our Grey Ghost (6-1), who raced very wide throughout in same race as choice.

  1. Can’t help it, but I am continually befuddled by how you wager. Putting a restriction of 5-1 on your selection is puzzling; what’s wrong with 3-1? And, chasing dime supers, keying in fact, has me wondering where is the handicapping?

Looked at the race, and while I don’t like two-year-old races I am going to go with Delaware Destroyer – simply a good fit.

Hope Paco or Luis can deliver the bacon for me today. Also gotta keep an eye on Jersey Joe/Breen connection.

  2. WMC, one final time, it’s about price, not about horse. Nothing wrong with 3-1 but I respect the opposition. Would I bet at lower than 5-1? Yes. BUT IN GOOD CONSCIENCE, I cannot tell others to accept a price that I feel is an underlay in the given situation.
