CONCERT TOUR will prep vs. five rivals in Saturday’s Arkansas Derby, four of which he defeated in the Rebel easily. The other rival is a 30-1 outsider. Not a lot of drama although you do have to run around the track before they pay you the winner’s share of a million-dollar purse.
There’s one scenario that might, might, make things a bit more interesting which we will discuss later in the week.If Concert Tourdelivers as expected and improves his lifetime mark to 4-for-4, he will be the likely Kentucky Derby favorite because of the Baffert Factor.
This is the smallest field the Arkansas Derby has had in 20 years. The first two finishers will qualify for “America’s Race” on May 1. The lone remaining Derby prep is Keeneland’s Lexington Stakes the following week with a much lower Derby points value. It could help the winner but not necessarily the runnerup.
Concert Tour is the 3-5 early line favorite. Second choice is the Rebel’s beaten favorite Caddo River at 7-2. Third choice is the Baffert trained Hozier at 4-1, the Rebel Stakes runnerup. Post time is 7:41 p.m., EST.
