The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

SPEED IN BELMONT OPENER

All the urban horsemen who made the trip upstate are back in Gotham–for real, this is Belmont at Aqueduct, the way it will be for the next two years.

The day’s feature is a classified allowances at six furlongs on the outer turf, a race loaded in fast, inform allowance runners. A case can be made for almost half the field.

We are enamored of Fleetfooted (8-1) who is taken to rebound in a big way.

After a lifetime best performance in May, the Speightster filly reappeared in Saratoga at 5-1/2 furlongs and chased a hot pace while racing wide throughout. He was not abused late when apparently beaten.

Trainer Joe Sharps has freshened and recycling him back downstate on a course over which she’s 2-for-3 and is stretching out to a trip at which she’s 3-for-4.

Additionally, she worked five time upstate, a mix of bullets and near bullets. She will be ready for her return as will her regular partner, Javier. We’re taking her to win, minimum 6-1.

On Dirt: Imhavingamoment (3-1)
