The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

GOING GULFSTREAM – OCT 7

Florida-bred juveniles take center stage in Gulfstream’s featured eighth race for horses that have not won 2 races lifetime. Two trainers start an uncoupled pair and, of the two, it’s one of Casse’s that gets the nod.

Bouncer (3-1) was well supported facing a limit field in his debut and did not disappoint despite racing greenly, grinding out a victory in a race that proved key with two next-out winners emerging from it.

The barn must have been impressed and entered the Adios Charlie colt–who sold for almost three times the sire’s average–back on two weeks rest in the Affirmed, but he proved no match for undefeated BC-bound Awesome Strong.

Check out that tough spot at Gulfstream, Race 10, SEP 3 to see if you’re willing to forgive the effort.

Now seven weeks from his winning debut, he returns at a favorable level, is suited by the turnback, and boasts two sharp company works with today’s stablemate, the latter breeze of the bullet variety.

Taking Bouncer to bounce back at 5-2 or greater, and quinellas with sharp speedster Rolling On (5-2) and properly spotted Gran Slash (4-1), who exits the same race as the choice.
