By Marc Lawrence — With the 2019 college bowl season complete thru Christmas Day, this is the breakdown of the record of games played to date: Favorites: 5-5 SU and 4-6 ATS / Dogs: 5-5 SU and 6-4 ATS / Home teams: 2-0 SU and 2-0 ATS / Visiting teams: 0-2 SU and 0-2 ATS / AAC teams: 1-1 SU and ATS / CUSA teams: 1-4 SU and 2-3 ATS / MAC teams: 2-1 SU and ATS / Independent teams: 1-1 SU and 1-1 ATS / Mountain West teams: 2-2 SU and 2-2 ATS / PAC-12 teams: 1-0 SU and 1-0 ATS / Sun Belt teams: 2-1 SU and 1-2 ATS. The ACC, Big Ten, Big 12 and SEC have yet to play a game.

PLAYING FOR PRIDE: Nate Davis of the USA TODAY says hats off to also-rans like the Giants, Redskins, Bengals, Dolphins and others. The aforementioned quartet had nothing to play for but pride in fact, losing actually meant better position in the 2020 draft but NFL players are nothing if not prideful. And kudos to the Jets, Julio Jones, Arizona and many others who showed professionalism when it’s almost time to pack it up. Let’s not accuse any NFL team of tanking again… It was tough for fans in Cleveland watch their “former” team continue to have so much success, and especially against their current “team.” The Browns’ playoff drought officially extended to 17 seasons, longest in the league… But some things never change.
