Race 1 Review by Dave Brower – Friday, November 6, 2020 |
1 BLUEBIRD GOLDWYN – Got a check last time, which is a good thing, but he retains longshot status for now.
2 FRILLS N LACE – Did not impress me in either Big M try so far. So, I’d probably have to pass until I see a little more stretch stamina. Maybe the inner post will keep the filly closer? She might just not be a mile track horse.
3 GOOD DAY MATE – Finally gets the post edge on his main rivals and better take advantage. Overall, he’s been consistent, which few of these can say. Must also stay out of trouble in the early stages. Sometimes, that’s an ask!
4 TAILGUNNER HANOVER – Nice to see the Gunner back! He had many strong efforts over this strip earlier in the year. That qualifier was a little better than it looks on paper. But, I will say in the past, he’s needed a race of two for best. Trainer: I’m excited that Gunner is back! He loves the Big M. Was very happy with his qualifier and think he’ll build on it.
5 MCNULTY Z TAM – Took ALL the money two weeks ago and it just didn’t work out, due to all kinds of trouble. Ended up being DQ’s for going inside pylons. Mr. King will have to make things easier, but I don’t expect much value again.
6 WATCHMENEIGHNEIGH – Hate to see that scratch, after an improved second effort here. If you happen to think he’ll be good, I wouldn’t talk you off. This race could have the right kind of flow to it. He finishes. Must be ready.
7 BADIX HANOVER – Did all the work on the front end last week and almost made it pay off. That was best effort from this guy in a long time! This switch back to outer post will complicate matters for sure. Not sure what the plan is.
8 DRAMATIC POINT – That was a pretty tough, overland trip from a similar post last week and it cost him. I don’t know how Mark will change that. There’s plenty of speed in here, plus several other good closers. Needs to work the trip.
9 WAR DADDY – Finds way back up the Turnpike to Club Med. Got bothered first time here. Bad post blues now.
10 WALKS OF LIFE – Flashed his old ability and class to storm by last week. You kind of knew at the ¾ pole that he was going to win. Marianna sports three driving wins, so she’s hot! Now, she’ll have to find a way to overcome post 10.

1 TOM’S AROCKIN – On the slow and steady comeback trail. I don’t think he’s there yet. I will pass one more time.
2 THESPYWHOLOVEDME – The Spy had a tough trip from too far back in the pack upon return. Okay. Now, he moves inside and gets a key driver change. I have a feeling he will be more “in position” here. Don’t be afraid to use. Trainer: 2020 hasn’t been too lucky for us. Hoping we can turn things around. He’s feeling good and doing well.
3 BIG BAD BILL – There are a couple of slight class droppers in here and this is one of them. Does that automatically produce wakeup calls? Not always. This guy has been kind of flat this year. I’m not ready to hop on board yet.
4 GRIFFON HANOVER – The Griff had a ton of pace from an impossible spot last week, but I think everybody saw it. Therefore, we get no price this week! Vinny has driven the veteran before. He should win, but we won’t get rich.
5 BIG CC’S ROCK – Here’s been here plenty of times. Had a race to acclimate back to the track. Gets a midpack post to put him in the flow. He does own five wins this year, so consider that. The right trip puts him in play at a price.
6 APEX SEELSTER – Still suffering a bit of the bad post blues. His recent form has been rather dull. Needs a complete wakeup call and return to form and those are hard to predict. G Nap not here for early part of card. Your call?
7 MOUNTAIN HIGH – He’s actually improved a bit with each start here. But, I do wonder about the post here. He hasn’t shown much early speed and this race doesn’t have a big pace scenario. Will have to get into it somehow.
8 INTERNET HANOVER – Also on the comeback trail. Made only six starts last year, and so far, six this year. We just haven’t seen enough from him yet. I would like to see a better effort first, before I could consider.
