By Marc Lawrence — ARIZONA over Cleveland over by 6:
The up-and-down Browns “improved” to 6-7 with a sloppy win over the
Bengals last week (lost the stats by -188 yards) but QB Baker Mayfield
stuck his football in his mouth again when he declared the team’s
medical staff incompetent. Once again, not a good look for Mayfield or
the Browns. Then again it’s what we’ve come to expect from this cast of
underachievers. And no thanks to bumbling rookie head coach Freddie
Kitchens, they enter this fray with only towel-tossing Jacksonville owning
more penalty yards than the 956-yards that Cleveland has been flagged
for this season. Aside from the fact that the Browns are 1-7 ATS in Game
Fourteen of the season, they are caught dead smack in the middle of a live
“classic division sandwich” with Cleveland coming off consecutive division
games with a pair of division games on deck. Arizona’s 15-5 SU and 16-4
ATS home dog log in non-division games against foes coming off a win
confirms it. We realize the Brownies can win out and sew up their fi rst
winning season since 2007 but geez Louise, how long can they keep
disguising themselves as a playoff caliber team? And lest we forget, the
Playbook BLACK BOOK provides THE CLINCHER: The Cardinals are
17-4 SU and 20-0-1 ATS at home off a non-division game when
facing an opponent coming off a win of 8-plus points
