The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

The finale to the racing week in Oldsmar is a gateful of N2L claimers going long on the Tampa turf.

Normally when down to two horses with one taking a huge class drop off an extended layoff, we’d opt for a horse with competitive figures, recency and good form, but not here.

There’s nothing wrong with Towering Gaze (7-2) who should benefit from her recent return from a layup with Antonio Gallardo taking the return call. An exacta factor for sure off her try at TAMPA BAY DOWNS, DEC 10, Race 9. Take a look.

But we’ll opt for Mark Casse’s double dropdown, a tack that has worked very well in the past.

Pardon My Heart (5-2) is having the last-out claiming price cut in half, she has been in steady training since early November and the outfit has had much success coming off a farm freshening, the case here.

We like the idea that turf ace Jose Ferrer takes the mount on the filly from Ocala.

We’re betting Pardon My Heart to win at 2-1 and an exacta box with her rival above.
