By Dave Little— Early Double Analysis, Meadowlands Racetrack — September 24, 2021
1 BIG CHARLIE MORAN – Has shown much more in his last two outings at Freehold but is he fast enough to compete?
2 PANTHERA AS – No worse than fifth in four straight before making a break in last; has been facing better stock than most in here.
3 MASSTER BLUE – Muscle Mass product has won two of his last three; veteran warhorse has hit the ticket in 79-of-148 lifetime outings.
4 ARGENTO – Still has quite a bit of improving to do based on his last two outings but this low level might prove to be a good place to start.
5 MAKERS MASS – 8-year-old has had a nasty breaking habit of late, going off stride in three of his last four; Dupont put the trotting hobbles on for his Sept. 11 qualifier and showed much improvement; could be dangerous.
6 SHENZI AS – Lorentzon student is accustomed to facing far better but has gone off stride in last two; the one to beat but will she stay flat?
7 LIONHEAD – Displayed speed, ended up a close second as the 7-5 favorite at Freehold two back; an effort similar to that could best this field.
8 DEW CAN DO – Another in here who’s had trouble staying flat of late; doesn’t have speed and draws post eight in an eight-horse field.

Top Contenders 2-6-3-1
1 TWO PROUD – Her qualifier was excellent; her last two parimutuel starts, not so much; 2-year-old taking on older is tough, especially in just her third lifetime start.
2 LOUD BRAZILIAN – Made her Meadowlands debut in a race that included winner Staycation Hanover, so the fact she was sent to the gate at 75-1 spoke volumes about her chances; this spot, while still tough, is a whole lot easier.
3 CAPTAINANDTELLY – Consistent sort from John Butenschoen has hit the board in 75% of her starts this year; has speed and could take this short field all the way.
4 CAPSAICINN – Added Lasix three starts back and has raced very well in all three, the last two were won in 1:51.4 and 1:51.3 and she was second in both; a good fit from a conditioning perspective.
5 SMILE BY THE BEACH – Things have yet to go her way since the Cullipher Crew took over three starts back but the tinkering figures to continue and there could be improvement coming soon.
6 INDUSTRIAL HEMP – Jenn Bongiorno trainee was a respectable fourth in Staycation Hanover’s win, missing by just a length-and-a-half, blew down the road with weaker at Pocono three back.
