As was the case in the Canadian International, the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup boasts a deserving favorite in Cambier Parc (8-5). She won the G1 Del Mar Oaks when last seen, a race producing two next out winners, and she’s also 2-for-2 at today’s trip.
Then so is one of her two stablemates in this contest, Cafe Americano (6-1). She too returns with ideal spacing, retains Irad Ortiz, 3-for-3 on this filly, and the G3 Pucker Up winner has been honed looking for her first Grade 1 title.
In this paceless match, she should have enough tactical gas to stay with the early leaders, her outside draw leaving Ortiz plenty of options to play it off the break. She had a strong work around the dogs after shipping south to Belmont and had her speed honed with a sharp half-mile over the course.
We’ll take the value offered here, believing 4-1 would be a fair price, exacta key-boxing with her two stablemates–Regal Glory (6-1) being the other–and try to max out in super-exotics with Magnetic Charm (12-1) and Varenka (6-1).
