The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

If you’re searching for a single in your late horizontal plays, Joe Orseno’s Portofino (9-5) easily appears the most reliable, based on Thoro-Graph figures But we’re not jumping just yet.

Instead. we found an interesting alternative in Abrir Caminos (5-1), making his first start in America for Ademar Santos.

For openers, his five wins are more than anyone in the group, –5-for-13 and 2-for-3 at the trip–including the favorite. Given the conditions, this appears to be an excellent placement.

The newly turned 4-year-old won his last start in Chile this January. has eight works since MAR 22, his last two were notably faster speed drills, including a 3F breeze from the gate in 35-flat, fastest of 19 peers to work that week.

Santos has been dealing out a hot hand, with an (8) 3-0-3 slate the last two weeks, Edwin Gonzalez has a way with his turf mounts.

We’re taking Abrir Caminos to win at 3-1 or greater, an exacta box with the favorite, and use well spotted Cantaro (6-1) in my exotics mix.
