The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

An interesting stakes feature going as the ninth race in Hallandale today, an always contentious five furlong turf sprint.

Stone Silent (9-5) is a deserving favorite, having won two back before placing gamely at this level last out despite a tough trip when she rallied between horses, narrowing the gap despite failing to change leads.

But Choose Joy (7-2) and rates an upset call. Veteran race mare has never been worse that second in 10 starts at the trip, winning five–with a Horse for Course slate to match.

Trainer Steve Dwoskin has been on a roll recently and has a career profit when giving the call to Ramon Vasquez. The clincher is that he was multiple wins with better figures on the Thoro-Graph scale.

Taking Choose Joy to win at better than 5-2 and key-boxing trifectas first and second with the favorite, Fulminate (5-1) and Shasta Star (10-1), exiting key races that each produced three next-out winners
