GOING GULFSTREAM – APR 9

When you check out the video on the today’s in today’s featured 10th race in Hallandale, you will note that Mi Negrita (6-1) ran against Gulfstream Oaks winner Kathleen O twice.

What you want to do is look up their first meeting in the Cash Run on the Going Gulfstream Video section on the homepage here on JAN 1, Race 4 when she set the pace going a mile and held gamely for place despite an ability to switch over to her correct lead in the lane.

What you want to avoid is their second encounter in the G2 Davona Dale in which she was hustled off her feet in an extremely quick first quarter to keep the lead but stopped, virtually eased across the finish line.

Apparently, no worse for the wear, she’s worked thrice since that drubbing and her last two very quick, suggesting that she responded to the blinkers which will be added for today’s preliminary allowances.

Turning back into a sprint appears to be just what the trainer ordered for today’s six furlongs in which we expect her to maintain contact early and use her stamina to wear down this group late.

Given the recent bad line, we also expect the price to be fair.

Taking Mi Nigreta to win at 5-1 or greater and quinellas with Jumeirah (7-2) going turf to dirt for Carlos David, and One Identity (2-1), 2-for-3 lifetime and a good second in the Any Limit at today’s trip last out.
