Excellent chance at this posting that Laurel’s Friday feature will go on the grass, a preliminary allowances going 1-1/16 miles for fillies and mares 3-year-olds and up. The two early favorites will need separating.
Correctness (4-1) never was able to save an inch of ground, two to three wide in a Delaware Park two-turner until she reached headstretch where she was asked to move inside.
She finally settled into stride and was making ground late, never threatening but galloping out nicely. She is very likely to improve in this spot.
Cambeliza (5-2) had it ever worse. Breaking from post 14 at Keeneland, she was in the 2-path most of the way where she found herself into the stretch, and she really had nowhere to go.
But she soldiered on inside, picking off runners, edging out gradually until she found clear running outside but too late reaching best stride far too late, also galloping out nicely after the fact.
Hot riding Angel Cruz is likely to get her in this game a lot sooner. Taking Cambeliza to win at 5-2 or greater and boxing an exacta with Correctness, and including Midship Lady (5-1) and One Last Trial (6-1) to the super-exotics mix.
