People under duress do things out of character. And so it is for Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett these days. He went from being the ultra conservative to the Mad Clapper, opting to for a first down inside his own 20-yard line with a 7-point lead in the first quarter in yesterday’s game against Buffalo. Even though he got away with the bonehead call he is not coaching lucidly. Dallas’ team stats say it all: the Cowboys are 6-6 on the year but 11-1 “In The Stats” – only stat loss by 9 yards at New Orleans. It couldn’t be any more evident. The players are doing their job. The coach isn’t. Feast On This OFFS Tipping in at least 5 lbs. heavier this morning than yesterday, I couldn’t help but notice that only two teams in college football have managed to hold every opponent under 300 yards of offense this season – Clemson and Ohio Sate. Which is likely why they will be meeting for the national championship in January. In addition, there are five teams in college football that have outgained every opponent this season, namely Clemson, LSU, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Utah. My best guess is four of these team will earn a trip to the College Football Playoffs. Stay tuned. To read more from my INSIDE THE STATS article this week click here.
