It’s not so much that D Coldest (6-1) has been hot at the claiming box–haltered from his last two runs–but the fact that the most recent was by Rohan Crichton.
And it’s not only because Chichton is a profitable 28% first time off the claim, but it is because the son of Gary D returns to state-bred company but the fact that he gets from pounds from all the main contenders.
Something else: Crichton is reaching out for Angel Morales, not only for the weight advantage but because Morales is one of the hottest riders in Hallandale, winning with four of his last 14 rides here with two exacta finishes.
The idea that he appears to be the main speed, coupled with his outside draw in a compact field, augurs well for a frontend score.
Taking D Coldest to win at 5-1 or greater and key-boxing exactas with Shaq Diesel (5-1), overmatched in his last two and turning back to a one-turn trip, and Loco Abarrio (5-2) 2-for-4 since the Ron Spatz claim and a winner at the trip last out.
