The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

GOING GULFSTREAM – APR 12

Even though today’s sixth race was decimated by scratches, surprising because it’s Tapeta Track, there still remains a good possibility for value.

I can understand if the scratched connections feel it’s prudent to duck sold favorite, impressive maiden breaking Trumpets (2-1), On the Dot (8-1 has an excellent chance to upset this group.

It’s unlikely that those early line odds will be a available–half would be very good, but no lower than 3-1.

But bettors are also unlikely to back inexperienced apprentice Melvis Gonzalez, unless they believe, as I do, that it’s worth the chance if you’re in with the virtual feather at 108 pounds.

On a speedy horse from the outside on a trainer, Jorge Delgado, that’s 21% effective on synth and is a profitable 25% overall the last three months.

Taking On the Dot to win, no lower than 3-1, and an exacta box with the favorite.
