DONATE TO TAA AT KEE

HRI Edited Release –

In keeping with Keeneland’s mission to support the horse industry, all self-serve wagering machines at the track will have a charitable donation feature that allows handicappers to donate a portion or all of their winnings to the Thoroughbred Aftercare Alliance and receive a receipt for their donation.

Keeneland’s fall meeting runs from OCT 4, through OCT 26.

The terminal will have a pop-up interface allowing bettors to contribute, interestingly an idea given to the industry by PETA. The terminal will issue the bettor a receipt indicating both the amount of the donation as well as the TAA’s 501c3 identification number.

The TAA is a nonprofit that accredits, inspects, and awards grants to approved aftercare organizations that rehome, retrain, and retire Thoroughbreds using industry-wide funding. Currently 70 organizations hold TAA accreditation, which includes 10 in Kentucky. Funded initially by seed money from Breeders’ Cup, The Jockey Club, and Keeneland, the TAA is supported by owners, trainers, breeders, racetracks, aftercare professionals, and other industry groups. Since inception in 2012, the TAA has awarded $13.8 million to accredited organizations and these organizations have affected almost 10,000 horses.
