The Wednesday feature to kick off the race week in Hallandale is no ordinary “one other than” allowances. It features two fast and exciting fillies in Send for Me (2-1), making her first start in 13 months, and Avow (3-1) a 2-for-2 Pletcher trainee, who won her season’s bow off a similarly long layup, both wins locally.
And the way Todd Pletcher is rolling, it’s tough to go against. She appears the stouter of the two on appearances whereas as Send for Mr has the edge in the brilliance department.
Her debut was awesome, but where has she been? Jonathan Thomas knows, as do the clockers, and the barn is a profitable 28% when adding first Lasix. The speedster gets the speedy Saez, coming of a 5-win Sunday, in the boot.
Not knowing which one is better going one mile here–we suspect it’s Avow–we’ll try to beat them both with price shot Frecchia d’Argento (12-1) who trumps them both in experience and is positioned nicely outside both rivals.
The Liam’s Map gray gets Paco Lopez back after a pressed-throughout off the board run in the Cornucopia at Parx after winning her 7-furlong prior with authority and now returns to her favorite surface over which she’s earned 3 of 4 lifetime wins, two coming at today’s trip.
See that win for yourself: Parx Racing, OCT 19, Race 4 and make the call.
It would be irresponsible to ignore the value offered on the early line here. We’re going to box all three in exactas, key-box extra exacta with Avow, and bet Antonio Sano’s filly to win at 6-1 or greater.
