By Marc Lawrence, PlaybookSports.com — The fact of the matter is the final grades for the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft won’t be finalized until the end of the rookie contract from this year’s class.
Because we’re human and we’re die-hard football fans, we simply can’t wait that long. Heck a good friend of mine once told me he can’t wait for a Pop Tart to comes out of the toaster.
After poring through the first round grades that are circulating after Thursday night’s first round selections, here is a synopsis of how team fared in general, starting with the team that took home top honors – The Philadelphia Eagles.
It turns out the biggest steal of the first round wasn’t DL Jalen Carter going to the Eagles at #9, it was his teammate LB/Edge Nolan Smith going to the same Eagles at #30, earning Philadelphia a coveted A+ ranking.
Others earning a first round grade of A+ included: WR Jordan Addison to the Vikings, WR Zay Flowers to the Ravens, WR Jaxson Smith-Njigba to the Seahawks, DB Christian Gonzalez to the Patriots, OT Peter Skoronski to the Titans, and QB C.J. Stroud to the Texans.
We’ll have more to say tomorrow after the second-and-third rounds have been completed an evaluated.
