1 BEBOP ON THE BLOCK – Not sure what happened with the Bop last week, as he was pretty empty. So, new barn drops him right back down to the price of the claim. He gets the rail, and a big Welcome Back to Dave Miller!! Watch out!
2 MASTER CONRAD – It took a little while, but hot barn figured this guy out and he’s good right now! Was just too far back last week. Gets a better post, and perhaps a nicer setup. I wouldn’t talk you off the Master during Masters week.
3 LATE NIGHT JOKE – It would be hard to build a strong case for success here. He hasn’t been good here yet. Pass.
4 ROCKIN RAMBARAN – Hot property at the claim box now. I hate to see that break last week, as that’s never good. Was doing pretty well before that. So, like #1, he could bounce back a little better tonight. But, we have to guess.
5 TITUS SEELSTER – 0-12 so far this year. Only two wins last year. He’s the kind of horse I will let beat me, IF he can. Usually, they don’t. Can hit the ticket with the right kind of trip, though. Consider that.
6 FAR BETTER – Another one to keep on the longshot list. Would need to step up with a much-improved effort. Maybe.
7 MAYFIELD DUKE – Bouncing up and down the class ladder lately, but without a whole lot of success. Stuck outside.
8 BETTOR BB – Also bouncing from barn to barn a lot lately. Will have to leave a little in this spot, just to get into the game, but that’s easy to do. Joe B gets a nice pickup here. Demand fair value, if you fancy from this slot. Trainer: Small horse with a big heart! I hope he can overcome a bad post, and respond to my equipment and shoeing changes.
9 NOTORIOUS – Talk about the bad post blues! Barn’s got two in here and neither one got any love. He also can leave, but he also never wins. Don’t even think about putting him on top.
DRIVER CHOICES: None
Top Contenders 2-8-1-4
1 DA BOOGIE MAN – Finds his way to the big track with a real mixed bag of efforts. Tony C likes to drive him in the club races, but this is a real race tonight. Wasn’t Scotty Z’s choice, but I expected that. Will have to stay trotting, folks!
2 SHINKANSEN – Remember when this guy won here last year, and paid a very nice price? I do! And I’ll tell you what! It looks like he’s come back even better! That was a very strong qualifier. His speed will go even further this year.
3 TEQUILA N ROSES – MIA for a little too long, so let’s put her on the longshot list for now. Needs a lot more.
4 COCKTAILS N DREAMS – After a couple of clunkers, she did race better last week. That’s a good step back in the right direction, and the post relief will help immensely. IF good again, she might give #2 a little tussle. Has the ability.
5 BELIEVER – Barn implied that he might need a race off the bench and that was correct. He did pass a few late, so that was good experience. Supposedly, he’s got some stakes ahead. Might be time to step up with more tonight. Trainer: We were very happy with his effort last week. Hoping he improves off that. It gives Dexter plenty of options.
6 LIGHT BLUE MOVERS – Was sailing along on a well-rated lead last week until he broke turning for home. He wasn’t going to win, however, as big fave was looming. A trot hopple went on, but didn’t keep him on gait. Tough call.
7 VITANI AS – Still not really sure what to make of this mare. She’s been just okay here so far, but not great. I kind of need to see more before I would consider betting again. This outer post won’t help the cause either.
8 MUSKINGUM – Invades from the Meadows and into a new barn tonight. I do see some speed on view, so will take a good, long look at her out on the track. Will have to step up and go faster here. Not so sure about that.
