The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

Race 1

1              ROYAL COURTIER – Flashed some speed and faded in the first start back here. Gets the rail now and Joe Lee back. I suspect the tactics will be a little different. Hoping to see a bit more stamina from the gelding tonight.

2              JERRYTONE – Transitions back over to the GSY where he turned in an okay performance month. JC gets along with him pretty well, and will be hoping to trip-out and launch one big move. That’s a maybe!

3              KINGOFTHEJUNGLE – Got caught in a speed duel last week, so just throw that out. Horse can’t sustain that kind of speed for that long. He’s much better as a stalker and finisher. The better post will allow DG some options. No duels!

4              MIDNIGHT LIGHTNING – He’s actually in very good form right now, so A-Plus for that! Very capable of launching a big move at any point, so that versatility helps. Moves from pole to midpack post. Likely to stalk in a very good spot.

5              FATHER SARDUCCI – Burned a little bit of betting money in that straight claimer last time. No good! Back to the GSY where he did turn in a few good tries earlier. I’m just not sure if the horse is tailing off or not? That’s the question.

6              TAKEITTOTHEFACE – I was waiting for this guy to bounce back with a better effort, and there it was last week! Gelding moves back to tougher post here, so he’s probably at mercy of both pace and trip. Things will just have to work out.

7              MY CAM GIRL – Maintains longshot status after a few disappointing efforts here. I would need to see a lot more.

8              R MADDY BLUE CHIP – Got a little carried away with that hot pace last week. Like #3, there was no way they could keep that up. So, what should we expect moving back out to another tough post? New driver. We have to guess.

9              WATCHMENEIGHNEIGH – Yes, he finally visited the winner’s circle again last week, so you know I didn’t pick that winner. I will take my swing against, especially from a very tough post. But, yes, I know he can beat me with a trip.

10           MASTER CONRAD – Drew the outside post last week. Drew the outside post again. Almost not fair. Pass.

Race 2

1              BUMP IN THE ROAD – Was perfectly positioned last week and came up empty through the lane. That’s not good! So, I would have a tough time building a strong case for success off that. Would need a total turnaround.

2              HEARTBREAK HOTEL – Finished up that mile nicely last week, with no reasonable chance to catch #6. With that said, what’s the plan for tonight? I see we get Dexter back in seat tonight. I suspect he will be a little more aggressive.

3              THAT’SMYTYPE – Also stalked in a pretty good for last Saturday’s hot pilot! Finished up well to grab that second spot. This post could be a little tricky tonight, because the inside pair can show speed. Luke will have to be patient again.

4              TWEETER HANOVER – Basically just kept up in chase of #6 last week. Just like the others. But, to get any closer, she will have to ramp up the rally. I usually need to see it first. So, I have to rate her a longshot again.

5              ESTHER’S DELIGHT – Never really got into the fray last week, and I fear something similar coming tonight. I know it’s a short field, but she’s getting away last in here. Nothing short of total mayhem will set up her rally.

6              SUPERBLY – Loved her last week, for several reasons, and Andy was able to steal it. With that said, she did sprint home strongly, with a much improved second go here. She is clearly the one to beat, but looking at a very short price.
