By Dave Brower, Meadowlands Handicapper — Early Double Analysis — December 10, 2021
1 GABBY’S GIRL – Romped twice over at Yonkers to return immediate dividends for her new barn. She didn’t pay much either! This will be a more significant test. Starts right alongside a mare that won here in 51 two weeks ago. Not easy.
2 LOOKATMYART – They did aim pretty high with her in that non-winners and she just wasn’t a match. This is back to reality here and she got a good post to boot. IF she’s as good as night when claimed, might just romp again.
3 OFF THE RECORD – Been a little disappointing lately. Was just okay last time when pounded down to 2-1. I think the price will be a lot better for the bettors, but the effort will have to be better too! Not sure what’s coming tonight.
4 BRIAR – Been toiling away down at Philly with some even-looking efforts. That’s not going to be enough to get it done here. But, let’s see if she likes the big track better. That’s been known to happen at times. Good post helps.
5 PLEASURE SEEKER – Did race better in the second try here. That happens a lot. Will that trend continue? That is the question. To get any closer, she needs to learn to go even faster. Moves to midpack post. At mercy of pace and trip.
6 SKYY – Starting to get the hang on things on the mile track. That was good, stout rally, almost nailing #7 last week. Moves out one slot and seems like a one-move kind of filly. She will need the right flow and pace setup. Not sure.
7 SILVER TAIL – Put it all together last week for her first mile track win. Andy did good job of stealing away just enough. To me, this is basically the same bunch, with exception of #2. Should be very interesting when they hook up. Tuf call.
8 ALUMNI SEELSTER – The Burke Brigade got no love from the post gods in here. And, in a race that has plenty of speed. They both own a race over the track, which wasn’t spectacular. But, I do expect them both to improve a little.
9 DIVINE DEO – Did a lot of the dirty work, attacking #7 last week. Was eventually rebuffed. But, tonight’s problem will be this post, and potential pace scenario. There is talent in this tank, but might need a softer spot to win one here.

1 PLUMB – Another Spa shipper showing a mixed bag of form. A couple miscues too! So, let’s take a good, long look at the mare out on the track. She’s got a lot to prove here, but you never know. She might like the big track. Might.
2 MANHATTANUP NO ICE – I’m not a real big fan of his either. Just fair efforts lately, with no solid stretch kick to speak of. To win here, you better have a nice kick. Will likely ride the cones again and try to pass a few. Maybe.
3 HENDERSON SEELSTER – Is he going to make it out of the gate tonight, or not? That IS the question. We all know he’s got the speed and ability to wire these, but it’s just a very risky play at the start. Good luck Andy Miller!
4 CHIEF JUSTICE – Used just a little too hard early last time and paid the price late. Overall, the barn’s got him in decent enough form right now. IF things go his way, he’s definitely got a chance at the slight upset. Needs that good trip.
5 SWISS HOUSE ONFIRE – Stablemate to Gotwuteverittakes swings by to drive us handicappers even more crazy. This gelding’s been in some tough races, so this is definitely some relief. A wakeup call wouldn’t shock me at all.
6 MARVELOUSTRIX – It seemed like the whole world knew that she was going to win last week. I didn’t. Cost me the Pk6 too! Maybe one of these years, I will remember that when she gets to the bottom level, she wins. Maybe.
7 LOOK IN MY EYES – Actually trotted in 52 last time here back in June. Obviously, that would obliterate this bunch. Got sick after that and missed significant time. So, I really don’t know what to expect tonight. Good luck guessing.
8 ST JAMES GATE – Regressed back into old bad habits. Now has an outside post. That makes him a pass to me.
