BROWER IN THE BIKE-SAT

By Dave Brower, Meadowlands Handicapper — Early Double Analysis — Saturday, January 8, 2022

Race 1

1              A SWEET BIDDA LUCK – Showed he could handle the big track with a good first try here! Now makes the transition from that weaker Trackmaster race to these pricier claimers. Will have to prove it again, but landed good post to help.

2              AMERICAN REBEL – Finally gets a little break from the post gods and he appears to need it. This is yet another wide-open race this weekend and he’s got as good a chance as any. Dangerous to ignore this barn when they come here.

3              ARRHYTHMIC SURGE – Outraced his odds against the lesser-priced foes. Good rally and good finish from Stevie. Barn “protects” the horse with the bump up in price. But, in reality, it might not be that big of a jump. Figures again.

4              ROGERTHAT BLUECHIP – Bouncing back and forth from here and Yonkers. Recent form is just flat. I’ll pass.

5              AIR GUITAR – Kind of the same boat as #4. None of those recent efforts get me excited. Will have to step it up.

6              BOURBONS COURAGE – The Cano barn have a pair in, and they both have chances. Shows two recent wins, and two rough trips down at Freehold. I just don’t know if he’ll be as good here on the mile track. We will find out.

7              WILSONS VINNER – Lots of seconds and thirds on his card, but not too many wins! So, with that said, I suggest using underneath only in the gimmicks. Will need a trip to get any closer.

8              RISKY MILLION – Of the Cano duo, this guy has the better big track form. No, I’m not in love with the post, but that’s up to pilot to figure out. Will need an alert start, even though it doesn’t look like horse’s best weapon. Your call?

9              DIRT E ROCK – Visited the circle only twice last year. Moves out to much tougher post, so I’d want a big price to even consider putting onto the ticket. Will need to improve a lot.

Race 2

1              ROLLINWITHAMBITION – Third straight class drop, but showing some really dull lines lately. Wakeup calls are hard to predict and that’s what this guy needs. I might have to see a better effort before I could endorse.

2              MAKE SOME WAVES – Not bad in his Big M debut, all the way down from Batavia. Could certainly improve on that, but will need similar smooth journey. Not out of the question, but I’ll keep him on longshot list for now.

3              DOGFIGHT – Took a ton of money in that one try here, for some reason. Never really got rolling with a pretty tough trip. The follow-up saw him get shuffled a little, with a switch to early speed. Not sure what’s coming tonight.

4              WHAT THE LUCK – Looks like he rated an okay pace in last at Monti and still couldn’t hold on. That doesn’t bode well for his chances back at Club Med. Will have to find some of that good speed and stamina again. That’s a maybe.

5              DRINKIN AGAIN – Made 46 starts last year. Iron horse! He’s worked his way down to a class level where he should do a little more damage. I like the midpack post. Seems versatile too! Maybe it’s time to wake him up and show speed!

6              OURLITTLEGENERAL A – MIA since that win here last month. Why the gap? Those kinds of things scare me, and so do class hikes like this. Demand a better price than you got last time, if you think he can repeat. I’m not so sure.

7              STICK WITH CRAMER – Steamrolled #4 up at Monti, but they both might be overmatched here. Outside again. Pass.

8              LYONS LIBERTY – He was pretty darn good last week, sneaking right up the rail. Looks like the recently added Lasix could be helping. I’m not in love with this post, but there are just too many other question marks in here. Dangerous.

9              THE DOWNTOWN BUS – Back class specialist here! The Gillis barn showed up with some power here last week, so let’s expect that to continue. He’s going to need a little speed, though. To get the jump on #10. No cinch, but big chance.

10           DE LOS CIELOS DEO – So, what do I do with my old friend here? He has won on drops like this before. So, he’s either going right down the road, even from post 10, or flounder in the outer tier. What’s it going to be? No idea.
