BIG M EARLY DOUBLE-FRIDAY

By Edison Hatter, Meadowlands Handicapper Early Double Analysis July 21, 2023

 Race 1:

1   ALLIEVERDREAMEDOF – He’s managed to pick up a few checks against Amateur fields down in Maryland in the last two, but hasn’t gotten a lot going against similar here recently. Would need a major improvement in this one.

2   PAN STREET USA – Has a fourth and a third in his last two tries against similar here at the Meadowlands and he’s really taken a nice step forward in his last two. Draws inside tonight and is worth an include in this one.

3   SANTANNA TONY – Tough trip three back against similar when parked the mile, but he did rebound okay last time out and picked up a check. Has had a few weeks off now and I’ll look elsewhere tonight. Remains 0-for-20 in 2023.

4   SWEET MOVES – Made a break at the start last time out and lost all chance, but he was a clear second three back against similar and was fifth two back. Draws well and will be looking to rebound in this one tonight.

5   MOONWARDS HANOVER – Kicked in :28.1 last time out from an outside post and was a fast finishing third against similar. Draws much better tonight and looks to be a serious win contender in this one. I’ll try him on top here.

6   ALWAYS A FORCE – Scratched sick from a similar spot last month and now hasn’t been seen since mid-June in a qualifier. Makes his first peri-mutuel start tonight since last December. I’ll take a pass and watch one from him here.

7   SIR MACHALOT – Big longshot against similar last time out and just hasn’t been able to get a lot going since coming to the Meadowlands three starts ago. Would need a major step forward in this one to be able to contend.

8   IN NEVADA N – Has a second and a fourth in his last two as he continues to work his way back from a few months layoff. Makes his fourth start off the bench tonight and will look to take another step forward here.

9   PERSEVERANT – Gave way in the last quarter of the mile down at Philly last time out off of the sick scratch. Moves to the big track tonight and will look to rebound tonight, but I’ll look elsewhere here, especially with the outside post.

10 FINAL JUSTICE – He was forced to take back last time out from Post 10 and wasn’t really able to get involved in the end. Was unlucky to get Post 10 again here and could be destined for a similar trip. I’ll pass and wait for a better spot.

Race 2:

1   MY WAY – Took a big step forward in his second qualifier from the first, but made a break in his debut last week at the start as an odds-on choice. Draws the rail tonight, but is worth a bet back here if you can forgive the miscue on debut.

2   PANTORAN – Looked very sharp in his only qualifier last month and earned 1-5 respect on debut as a result. Led until the last quarter when he gave way rapidly to be a well-beaten fourth. I’ll give him one more chance in this one, though.

3   JEFFERSIN – Drew outside on debut and wasn’t really able to get involved in the mile. Draws better tonight, but would appear to need to take a step forward here to be in the mix. Look for him to be closer to the pace in this one, though.

4   MR BLUEBIRD – Picked up a qualifying win down at Pocono earlier this month, but couldn’t get a whole lot going last week in his debut in the NJSS. Draws well again tonight, but would need to take a step forward to contend in this one.

5   ROBINHOOD – Looked very strong on debut while winning in a 105-1 shocker. Wasn’t quite as sharp last week, but put together a solid mile to be third in the end. Draws well and will look to put another strong effort together here.

6   POOF OF RECORD – Took a nice step forward last week in his career debut off of the pair of qualifiers down at Magical Acres. Did convert a perfect pocket trip last week, though, and likely finds it to be a bit tougher in this one tonight.

7   SEVEN REPS – Finished second two back in the Tompkins-Geers, but had breaking issues late last week in his second start in the NJSS. He’s shown some okay talent in his four times on the track when he can manage to stay flat.
