1 BURNING DESIRE – Not exactly lighting things up here lately, so we have to keep him on the longshot list. Pass.
2 CRUSH HANOVER – This guy has had a tough go of it here so far too! I can’t find a way to recommend just yet.
3 DARTH FADER – Did race just a tad better last time, so maybe that’s a sign of better things to come? This is an absolutely wide-open race, but somebody has to cross that wire first. I just don’t know who that will be.
4 TAKEITTOTHEFACE – Came flying home to get up and upset the applecart last week at 7-1. Nice if you had him! I guess he’s probably the most consistent horse in this race right now. Can he come back and repeat? Of course.
5 BRAZEN BRAZILIAN – Hasn’t had a whole lot of luck here lately. Went the long mile on the rim last week and paid the price late. Overdue for a good kind of break and maybe he can get it tonight. A big maybe, though.
6 HAYMITCH – Seems like the other horse in here that’s become somewhat consistent of late. Yes, Mitch does need a trip, but that’s not out of the question. Just got rolling a little too late last time. Draws same post. Tough call.
7 ROCK TO GLORY – Ran into a few roadblocks along the way last week. That will happen when you’re a dead closer in these races. IF the trip were smoother, could he win? Yes. But, get a fair price to take that chance. It’s no guarantee.
8 CECIL CASANOVA – Is Cecil beginning to tail off? You can make a case for the yes answer. Ended up as the favorite last time, almost by default and did not pay off. Now gets stuck with an outer post. That’s not going to help the cause.
9 FINAL JUSTICE – Can’t really get too excited about his chances from this starting slot. I will simply take a pass.
10 A B COLLINS – All things considered, that was a pretty good first try here. The pace was hot. He was game and it took a big mile from a trip horse to beat him. So, what do we do now from post 10? I’m not sure about that yet.

1 FRANK THE ELDER – I’ll assume he was just immature last summer, so they turned him out after a couple of baby race tries. Back now at three, with the hopples on, and that was an encouraging qualifier. He might get better now.
2 BULLY BOY HILL – They slapped the hopples on him too, and he produced a somewhat better effort. Passed a few of the tired ones. Not bad. I need to see more, but will be watching closely for future consideration.
3 MONI’S HEAVEN CENT – Raced pretty well a few weeks ago behind that well-rated winner, Senna. Do note they have taken the hopples off him for now. To me, that’s usually a good sign. Could easily take a step forward and beat these.
4 ZAPPA – Big price yearling buy didn’t get started until the fall last year, so they took their time. And of course, you always hate to see that mistake in a debut. But, that was then, and this is now. Pretty strong qualifier here. Ready?
5 STRONGERWITHLINDY – He didn’t look all that ready in either qualifier, so let’s take a pass for now and watch one.
6 PRIMO VOLO – Was kind of surprised to see him back up a little in his debut. Looked like they had him on the right track. But, these are very good horsemen, Per and Kasper. They will figure it out eventually. Watch for more.
7 THE AMERICAN EAGLE – Went to running pretty early in his seasonal debut. That’s never good. Pass.
8 NOMOPHOBIA – Probably the key to the race tonight. Or at least the early pace battle. Keep in mind he went four-for-four last year, but Nancy still put him on the shelf. That tells me there’s talent here. Three qualifiers in, but that worries me. A work in progress. Trainer: Changed his shoes and he’s much more comfortable. Should be fine in here. Nice colt, when he stays focused.
