BROWER IN THE BIKE

By Dave Brower, Friday June 26, Race 1 Review

1 EXPLOSIVE – Seemed to be going well up until the shut-down. Came back with a tough-trip, slowish qualifier up at
Goshen, so I do have my doubts whether he can be fully primed and ready. Will have to prove me wrong to win.
2 MAX VOLO – I guess this is the spot for Max! He actually was pretty good against that better bunch last time and he
gets to drop again. I know that one win only this year kind of sticks out, but he should beat these. No excuses. Trainer:
Finally gets a class where he belongs. Been racing well in some very tough spots.
3 WARRAWEE SHIPSHAPE – Only got one start in this year back in March and it wasn’t a very good one. The comeback
qualifier at Gaitway was actually better than the race. Can he possibly be ready? I see who gets to drive. Good combo!
4 BILLIE BLUE – Huff had two in that race last week and they both looked short. Don’t hold that against the horse.
Should be a lot closer to full readiness with that start under her belt. It’s also a drop. Gives Max a run for the money?
5 CREDIT FRAUD – Trying to turn things around for Eric A and will eventually get there. This slight drop is a step in the
right direction. I like the midpack post. Not sure she’s ready to blast out, but might be soon. Watch closely.
6 VECTOR – When you claim one, and then lay the horse off for months, that’s not usually a good sign. In addition we’ve
got a new barn involved now. Cano has done well with some horses sent east by Betts. Let’s take a good, long look.
7 ROYALE ELITE – I’ll keep this one on the longshot list for now. Drew another rough post. Lacks speed. Have to pass.
8 FRIEND OF NATURE S – Had this fella drawn a better post, I could probably make a much stronger case. I really like
his finish for Casper last week. But, we get a new driver tonight and a terrible starting slot. Has to find way into it.
Trainer: Happy with his first try! Didn’t get in for a couple weeks before that. Will be a little sharper this week.
9 LION SAFARI AS – Shows one even-looking qualifier since February, so that’s a problem. So far, the barn has had a few
ready, like Guardian Angel As. This gelding faced better back then. I do wonder about his early speed, though.
10 THISISSHE – Definitely looking like the big longshot. Especially from the dreaded post 10.

RACE 2 Review

1 THUNDRA – You had to be VERY impressed by this filly in her Big M debut. And don’t forget, it was just third lifetime
start. Gave the big fave (#5) a solid tussle. Will benefit from that experience. Race should set up the same way.
2 DUCK N ROLL – Didn’t look all that primed and ready for leg one. Comes back in same spot as the faves, so I would
need to see a lot more before I could endorse. Best asset here is the post.
3 KELLY’S CHAMP – Had just enough late pace from a tough spot to warrant an extra look here. No surprise that she
needed a race and this barn usually improves them with each appearance. We’re going to see more form Kelly here.
4 BIGFORHERBRITCHES – Gets a touch of post relief for her second start of the year. Needs it. Not quite as good.
5 ODDS ON SARASOTA – I took a shot against her last week and she battled gamely to dig in and hold #1 at bay. It was
a strong, bounce-back kind of effort. Looking at this same bunch, it can probably happen again. Another short price.
6 READY SET ROCK – Did a fairly good job of chasing the favorites last week, but wasn’t a serious late threat. Gets stuck
outside them at the start again, so don’t be surprised to see Yannick leave again. Will need that first turn seat.
7 YOU BEDA ROCK – No real threat in the opening round last week. I fear the same from a tougher post tonight.
8 WYNONA STRIDED – Barn has two in here, and I guess this one has the slightly better chance. Did improve a lot, from
the qualifier to the first leg last week. Not bad. But, what happens from post eight in here? That is the question.
9 GAMORA – Drew post 10 for leg one, and post nine tonight. That stinks. It’s not going to work this week either.

  2. Wow! This blog looks exactly like my old one! It’s on a totally different
subject but it has pretty much the same layout and design. Wonderful choice of colors!
