BROWER IN THE BIKE – FRI

By Dave Brower, Meadowlands Handicapper — Early Double Analysis   — Friday, September 10, 2021 —

Race 1

1           STRIDE THE HILL – That was another good, strong rally last week. And it came after missing several weeks. This is a very nice colt that is probably still learning the game. Tetrick teaching him well. One night soon, we’ll see speed!

2              PUB HOPPING – The Key homebred is still very much a “work in progress.” But, this barn is having a strong season on all fronts. Eventually, the colt will get the hang of it and become a decent performer.

3              ABRUZZO – Not bad so far. I like that I don’t see any mistakes. Seems like he’s got one good turn of speed in a mile. Will need a little luck, but not totally out of the question. Offers good value if you want to include.

4              ROBERTSIN – Did ALL of the dirty work in that final on Hambo Day. He understandably got a little tired. This is a very nice horse too! He’s already been gelded, but I love the speed he’s shown already. Seems to have the edge, if ready.

5              TESTING TESTING – Ducharme student has some talent too! We can easily excuse the one miscue over the sloppy track. Every other appearance has been strong. Last week’s win was super! Conditioning edge on #4? Maybe.

6              BULLY BOY HILL – Didn’t have a whole lot of luck out in Kentucky, so Harder brings him back here. Drew into a tough spot tonight and I’m anxious to see what the plan is. There’s plenty of speed just to his left. Needs a good trip.

7              WISHFUL ORDER – Likely to get away last in this bunch and that won’t help. Will just have to hope the faves mix it up a little and then he can rally. Has to show it here at M1 and will need a bigger kick.

Race 2

1              LAYTON HANOVER – Son of the Captain is off to a great start for Team Ryder. We haven’t seen him here yet, but tonight figures to offer a good test for the colt. Gets another great post and will give the faves all they can handle.

2              SEVEN HUNDRED – New York based colt came up short of making the sire stakes final, despite several good tries. He’s handled everything thrown at him so far. Another nice test on a big track tonight, but against talented field.

3              BAY CITY – Was good enough to make the Pennsy final, and then unfortunately scratched into post eight. Ouch! Another one that we haven’t seen here at Club Med yet. Seems like he’s got some speed. Should offer nice price.

4              TE AMO BLUE CHIP – Made a very nice attacking move last week and couldn’t quite sustain it. When you’re going a 51 mile, I can understand that. John Berger has himself a nice one here. Overdue to get a win, but probably not tonight.

5              EARLY ACTION – Got started a little late in the NYSS, so that’s why he didn’t make the final. But, he’s rounded into strong form quite nicely for the Hall of Fame duo. The only clunker I see was here. But, that was impossible trip.

6              CAPTAINRYANMICHAEL – Yes, the pace was pretty hot to set up that rally last week, but boy did he fly home! That was huge step in the right direction and he passed the test for class. Drew midpack post again. Hoping for hot pace?

7              GROOVY MAN – Team Takter took their time with this guy. Didn’t appear until the end of July. But it sure looks like it’s paid off nicely! Baby-raced super. Shipped to KY and romped twice. How good is he? I guess we’ll find out tonight.

8              BET A BUNDLE – Seems a bit below this level right now, and got slammed with the outside post. Not going to work for new barn.
