The New York State Empire State Development Corporation will approve the Final Environmental Impact Statement for the Islanders Arena at Belmont Park Monday, at a 3 p.m. meeting in Manhattan.
The ESD board of directors will seek “authorization to accept and approve” the FEIS. This is the first of three boards necessary to complete the approval process. The Franchise Oversight Board and the Public Authorities Control Board will soon follow.
Governor Andrew Cuomo, originally scheduled to speak on Long Island at the same time, is a late scratch. A new time will be set for the announcement of the new Long Island Rail Road station at Belmont Park.
Islanders fans should be happy the approval process is in motion, as it is far more important that a public relations opportunity for Cuomo.

Your boys Cuomo and Sterne have to go to Msg to give Dolan more taxpayer money to go with the 700 million and a ground breaking he just got in June (all via taxpayers) for more access to Dolan’s train stations now that Lhota is only on Msg’s board. Maybe you can pour concrete in Penn Station toilets so Cuomo can approve Dolan’s operating permit for life he wants. Lets see how fast Cuomo can funnel Oakview and Azoff money via Dolan now that they are 330 million over budget in Seattle and can’t build a paper bag without Dolan financing them. Belmont must die, it’s only for Dolan because his massive ego lost Coliseum, and of course this was delayed so Panarin would pick the taxpayer funded Chase Garden.
