The Conscience of Thoroughbred Racing

NFL football is officially back and everyone is excited. Week 1 included many surprises and memorable performances. ESPN shared 64 statistical observations from Sunday’s Week 1 slate you should know about, including: Kyler Murray finished the game with 54 pass attempts, only three rushing attempts, and a QBR of 38.5… Chargers RB Austin Ekeler accumulated 154 total yards on 18 touches scoring three touchdowns. He forced nine missed tackles, which was more in a single game than Melvin Gordon had last season… Baltimore QB Lamar Jackson produced the best passer rating (158.3) in Ravens history. More here.

Not So Surprising Stat Of The Day

The Baltimore Orioles are 4-18 at home in Game Two of a series and 4-16 on Wednesdays this season.

Grinding Out The Profits

Ever wonder how Army got so good? The Football team had one winning season in 17 years. Now, they’re coming off 3 consecutive bowl victories, a school-record 11 wins last season and a near upset of the Wolverines. Axios Sports reports Army’s football program has slightly loosened its academic requirements and begun relying more heavily on its prep school, where players can spend a year getting acclimated to the U.S. Military Academy’s unique atmosphere which serves largely as a 10-month academic boot camp. Fourteen of Army’s 22 starters in their double-OT loss to Michigan this past Saturday spent a year at prep school.
