By Marc Lawrence — NFL owners officially voted to expand the playoff picture for the upcoming season, adding one additional postseason team per conference. CBS Sports sorted out the details, noting that only the top team in each conference will get a first-round bye. The No. 2 seeds will face the No. 7 seeds. Wild card weekend will consist of three games on Saturday and three games on Sunday. Under the new format the 8-8 Steelers and the 9-7 Rams would have in the playoffs last postseason. I tweeted this @MarcLawrence: Ten different 10-win teams have failed to make the playoffs since 2000. Under the new playoff format only the 2010 Tampa Bay Buccaneers would have still missed the playoffs, while the other nine teams would have qualified.
