MLB’s BEST 2-OF-3 IS UNFAIR

By Marc Lawrence, PlaybookSports.com— So this season, the Tampa Bay Rays won 99 games, which would have won the American League Central and American League West crowns. Instead, they went two-and-out in the opening round of the A.L playoffs and they are finished. In the National League, like Tampa Bay, the Milwaukee Brewers were another division winner that saw its postseason end after two games. Call me a purist if you wish, but MLB teams should not have to play 162 to earn a playoff berth and then be subject to a best-of-3 series. The only thing worse is the NBA’s one-game play-in to the postseason. Let’s face it. The rules were changed to keep fans attached to their team as long as possible throughout the course of the regular campaign, which generates added revenue. It’s simply not fair – to the teams or the fans.
