To us, the defeat of Stony Point 4-1) in her season’s debut locally was a classic case of a horse coming off a freshening and needing a run. Check out Race 4 here on DEC 22 to see if you read it the same way.
Showing freshness, she also was compelled to break sharpy from an outside post going five furlongs here, she did all that through lively fractions but paid the price late, tiring in deep stretch.
Meanwhile, the classy Miss J McKay (7-5) was biding her time following a rough beginning until she was turned loose by Tyler G. and the filly just gobbled up the ground to win going away at the end at the same trip.
Since then she registered to sharp blowouts at her Payson Park base and will try to make it two straight, Joel Rosario taking the mount from regular client Christophe Clement.
She will be hell to pay but the price rated to be prohibitive. Stony Point has drawn better for the rematch and a pocket trip could be in the offing here at a fair price
We’re betting the reward is worth the risk. Taking Stony Point to win at 7-2 or greater and an exacta box with the favorite.
