By Marc Lawrence, PlaybookSports.com — As you know it starts to get hot down here in south Florida this time of the year. But it’s nothing compared to to sports teams around town.
Miami area teams have made four final fours over the past seven weeks.
Miami men’s basketball: The No. 5 seed Canes reached their first-ever Final Four last month, where they lost to eventual champion UConn.
FAU men’s basketball: In just their second NCAA Tournament appearance, the No. 9 seed Owls shocked the world and reached the Final Four.
Heat: After upsetting the Bucks and Knicks, the Heat became just the second No. 8 seed ever to reach the conference finals (1999 Knicks).
Panthers: After upsetting the historically great Bruins and heavily favored Maple Leafs, the Panthers are eight wins away from their first title.
Plus: Miami women’s basketball went on their own impressive run, reaching the Elite Eight as a No. 9 seed before losing to eventual champion LSU.
